Bear With Me 04:02
Ah-ah There’s a bear in my boat And I can’t just jump out I’ve got to stay afloat There’s a bear in my boat, oh When I set sail he was just a cub But this problem ain’t so cute now that it grew up First thing I did, I tried to hide’im I gave him clothes and said, “There You’re no longer bare” But he don’t get what I am doin’ So who am I really foolin’? There’s a bear in my boat And I can’t just jump out I’ve got to stay afloat There’s a bear in my boat, oh Dodge and weavin’ through the rapids Wet floor slippin’, there’s no stoppin’ Hyper breathin’, feelin’ trapped-in Next time I won’t let this happen Could it be? The beast fell I sleep Sweet mother-rest, holy-relief The water froze still and the vessel grew feet I reached out to fly and realized it’s a dream Woke up to bear hugs, deep, bloody claw marks I made my hands two fists and started takin’ shots Yeah I feel better when I fight for My happy-sailing-time survival, oh, ho-oh Ah, ah, ho… Now I’ve made it down to the final round I admit I was quick to call that the last one But maybe I should thank my rival Because our battle keeps my signs vita-al

No Babies 03:05
No babies here Don’t wanna be a Premature father That’s what I’ve gotta tell My little brother ‘Cause he’s got his first girl And it’s obvious that they fell In, in love, ho-oh Fresh hearts stick together like Marsh-me-ellows, ho-oh Too sweet and soft to stop Cupid’s A-a-a-a-a-a-rrows Tells me proudly that they get Phy-si-i-cal, ho-oh Life’s so chill when you just start your Fuckin’ career Brave nude frontier Kingdom come for the Leashed up lust in your brain Let that beast have its way Let it be free, untamed Great way to please yourself sane Through life Definitions of sweet things change Especially when you hit that certain stage You used to crave the chocolate bar I Did too, but now the sweet tooth Is for that carnal delight And you, remember, used to Be fine if alone at night Now on rare nights without her Your bed seems empty and wide So brother take your older Sibling's wise, good advice You ought to treat her great but Don’t always play Mr. Nice Tell your true thoughts but if you Ain’t wrong Don’t apologize Love’s a gun, the trigger is Un-derstanding, not telling lies Keep aiming, align sights and in The bedroom it multiplies

Fresh off the boat in America First place Father took me was the dollar store Never seen a place like that before Somethin’ motherland did not offer Pretty soon I had a new set of toys And a new look too, hard to recognize Loaded cap gun in my Batman fanny pack Spandex shorts, bow and arrow on my back The happiest immigrant on the block I had a thing for shades too, I even got The ones Arnold rocked in “Terminator 2” My building’s maintenance crew nicknamed me Hollywood Ah-ah Then came a time when I didn’t go To the dollar store very much at all Was too busy pretendin’ that I’m not poor Tryin’ to fit in with the preppy kids at school And as my bones grew, they grew in shy And a dark root took hold inside I dressed up as the Crow three Halloweens in a row I stashed my drugs in a hollowed-out Bible Oh-ah, whoa, ho-ah… Me and my two friends playing on this song After high school we moved to Montreal We got a place that needed a makeover-haul And that’s what made me return to the dollar store Dust masks, rubber gloves, scrubby pads Paint rollers, paper towels, garbage bags Heavy duty brush for the toilet bowl In two weeks the place was livable Then we got into gettin’ novelty Items for our birthdays, shows, and parties Hand-clappers, streamers, and confetti Black balloons for when I turned 30 Jesus nightlight for the kitchen wall A picture frame for “Gremlins” Gizmo The laundromat is a far-away walk And sometimes I just need a fresh pair of socks But now the items at the dollar store Are priced at a dollar or more Guess things couldn’t stay the same forever But they’re still the best deal on toilet paper

Rogue Wave 03:34
Music has been fused with all my bo-ones Music has been fused with all my bones And this can induce true bliss in my moves She is my main cause, not my alibi Outside of vain laws we go on to thrive She’s my cryptic shrine, dim lights and symbols Window through which I see what’s eternal She’s my new era, paradigm shifter With her together it all just fits well She is my rogue wave, a raw miracle Echos my spontaneous impulse with force She wants us to go Somewhere completely new So we’re travelin’ Way out and within Searchin’ for a rush Everywhere we touch Yeah we’re tappin’ in-to The promised land Through a roaring surge Our true selves emerge She’s the fine detail that I am into Pursuit that entails remaining in tune She is my “Girl With a Pearl Earring” My Frida Kahlo, a look so daring She’s my detective, addictive drama Always we leave it on a cliffhanger She is the mother of getting gritty My Sarah Connor, my Ellen Ripley She wants us to go Somewhere completely new

Go on and bri-ing on your ma-a-sto-o-don All bets against me for me to have my fun The battles that I pick are far from won It took more than twenty-four hours to build Rome ‘Ve got nothin’ to veil Yes I am re-a-dy Blazin’ my trail With a mache-e-te Nature did not ask to be born Just exists takin’ on new form Veins on my arms like a lightnin' storm Face lookin’ kinda neanderthal My body is a vehicle And my genes decide where it goes So I don’t have much of a choice But to pick fights with mastodons So I summon all I‘ve got To keep fightin’ and not Give in and drop Every taste of victory Gets me hooked on feelin’ free “Na na na, hey, good bye” on repeat Fist pumpin’ even in my sleep And wherever this wave leaves me I’ll swim to land and set back to sea Every taste of victory Gets me hooked on feelin’ free Go on and bring on your ma-a-sto-o-don It’s been de-ad quiet around here for too long Set the field, raise the flag Sound the horn, bang a gong Set loose the primeval That lives in everyone ‘Ve got nothin’ to veil Yes I am re-a-dy Blazin’ my trail With a mache-e-te

Ricochet 02:52
I tried to de-ny the Attraction, oh-oh I spent two weeks to see If it’s right or wrong, whoa-oh Then sudden-ly it hit me If I’m deba-ting constantly I must really want this girl Neurons fireworks for this female, oh Never have I been this grateful For what I call the eternal Rico-rico-rico-ricochet Oh, whoa, oh Rico-rico-rico-ricochet Oh, whoa, oh… I’m comin’ for you girl I’m bouncin’ off the walls I’m comin’ for you girl Without any more stalls You dispatched my full pursuit Gainin’ trust, gainin’ on you On your tail so far feels good Then your shields go up high Won’t let Cupid give you A-another black eye Well yes we might go through Some sweet me-ssy lessons You know you wanna let me in I showed up at your house High beams for eyes, fucked as Moses With a bloody handful Of your neighbours garden’s roses I’ve got magic crowbars To break into your heart, whoa, oh…

Parked the van to sleep, the spot looked low-heat Still a cop knocked on my window Said, “You gotta keep movin’, this Are-a is residential” I replied back, “Just because My home rides on wheels Doesn’t mean you’ve got to go And kick us out of here” He says, ”Wait, Iowa plates You said you’re not from the States” But in just minutes, he says, “Go,” convinced By our debut acting performance My odo-me-ter hits back to zero I’m a re-gu-lar dirt road warrior My odo-me-ter hits back to zero I’m a re-gu-lar dirt road warrior Ah, ah… Stuck up for two weeks in Union City Cheapest Palace Hotel The van’s down the street, in a shop, it needs Repairs on the motor Found a nice size bag of blow Snoopin’ through the drawers Watch back-to-back cable shows Shoot shit ‘till the mornin’ Things feel right when good times find Their way right into your night ‘Specially when hope appears thin And I seem to be reapin’ grim My odo-me-ter hits back to zero I’m a re-gu-lar dirt road warrior My odo-me-ter hits back to zero I’m a re-gu-lar dirt road warrior On and on Miles and miles To go, whoo Miles of road ahead, miles of road be-hind Highways don’t have reds, passed the exit sign Miles of road ahead, miles of road be-hind Hide behind the sunset, pile up ran-dom up in my mind So book a trip somewhere that’s unfamiliar You could learn things about Yourself through compare And contrast to the Local habits around I bet Dave, you didn’t know You could drive this rental Car so fast in reverse from The loco, as in mental Dude who spilled lighter fluid On our windshield, wanted us dead Tales of the road are said to be told As hope for more them to un-fold Ooh, ah, oh…

Severed cables writhin’ Electro-shocked skin Debris clouds hoverin’ I got floored, soldered grin And as I brushed off the New ash, I knew That this was my cue From one hazy altitude I came in For a vicious emergency landin’, oh Call it a hunch, my chosen mission My zealous blood flowin’ south of sane Never had a doubt of any kind Flyin’ my freak plane across the sky To see How high it could go Against The pull of the world The habitat is irritable But towards the sun The plants grow Now I’ve crossed the point of no return Every creature on board knows my pain All the radars I had up went blind Had to wing it to keep dreams alive In this Real deadly world That can Crush my spirit slow The habitat is irritable But towards the sun The plants grow Who do I have to thank for this Strange feeling? Oh yeah it’s me Yes I was hit, tail-spun from heaven My life in panoramic display Really refined my whole frame of mind Hi-fivin’ everyone I pass by In this Ever-spinin’ world That can Leave us in a whirl The habitat is irritable But towards the sun The plants grow Oh-ah-oh…

Seek Shelter 03:53
I have been keepin’ myself so patient Workin’ all of these all-day-long shifts On somethin’ epic, all up in my shed I’ll be so happy when I finish it But somehow my heart strings got wound Up very tight now I’m hearin’ a weird sound Bunch of glass gettin’ tossed at a wall Set of knives under rusted land mower Before I know it I’m pulsing through The city’s main vein on my way to Meet up with my girl at her place The squeaky wheel gets the grease She listens to the Things that I say It means somethin’ to her Which matters to me It’s like those strike Anywhere matches We just need us And a surface But I can’t get obsessed Because pyros can Leave an ashy mess And I want what we build Here to stand In case we want to Seek shelter here again It’s like those strike Anywhere matches We just need us And a surface And there’s a few things that she does That make me feel all blessed because It’s love served rare, topped with fresh lust And if you see us it’s obvious Moody clouds lookin’ to loose pounds Mean ol’ winds wanna steal your wigs Lightin’ Bolts Love to Get results So now I’m callin’ her To see whether She’d like to Seek shelter Together

Is mankind inherently Good or just, just set on evil? This question’s been urkin’ me ‘Cause I gotta learn how to deal With piranha-fin-sharp-tooth people Devourin’ the space around In this dark maze that I somehow On my drunken trek home fell into Now I’m a lover not a fighter Not a fighter most of the time Even though I’ve been told by good friends I’ve been told by good friends of mine That I dress like I must really wanna I must really wanna fight crime As a kid I’d watch Jean-Claude Van Dame Really kick some ass and cause some harm There’s something in violence, something in Violence to, to a male that’s young I’d get in fights even tripped another ‘Nother kid and the fall broke his arm Still feel remorse even though Even though was, it was long ago ‘Cause now I just want my love I want my love to conquer all Yes I just want m-y love to conquer all Sunshine, my girl, and what I call rock ‘n’ roll Fountain of youth spiked with some smooth alcohol But in my life that’s just not su-stain-a-ble Now back through the dark maze Dark maze where now I know A few hidden pathways Pathways and corridors Where things do move fast pace Without a pause Like the creatures that brace Their catacombes I’m always so a-amazed Amazed how they survive So I shake and twist wh-ile Twist while I shine a light I’m done livin’ the dark Age of my life I’m getting this room with No windows bright But the perpetrators Traitors, those piranhas Are buildin’ a mess b-y Addin, addin’ more walls I might get pissed but I I won’t get lost What’s a man to do but Grip on his balls And to continue on On his, his muddy path Until “One Dirty Dude” Will read my epitaph And the scarier it gets The more I’ll laugh I will get through it lookin’ Like a psychopath

about

Several songs on "Overflow," including “Rogue Wave," started as minute-long compositions intended for commercials. Song titles such as “Bring On Your Mastodon," along with some of the lyrics, first appeared on an extensive list generated during Rock Despot’s search for a new band name. “Overflow” is also the first Rock Despot album where every instrument, including the beats, were recorded playing out of amps and speakers in their rehearsal space, capturing the intangible ambiance of sounds cross-pollinating in midair. The result is an album most characteristic of their live sound. A bit ironic considering Rock Despot ceased performing live as soon as recording sessions for the album began, and with no plans to rehearse in the future, the title “Overflow” has taken on another meaning.
